Orthodontic care is an opportunity and a risk for most dentists.

ODO has found product-market fit by maximizing the former and minimizing the latter.

The ODO platform creates end-to-end support for orthodontic cases – helping its customers diagnose cases, plan treatments and execute clinical care.

The platform allows dentists and orthodontists to confidently treat more cases and to achieve that improved work while simultaneously becoming much more efficient. It adds up to a significant new line of business that has seen some clients increase profit by $300,000 or more in the first year.

Founded in 2021 by orthodontic industry veteran Judd Johns and orthodontist Dr. John Warford, the company is now seeing 150% year-over-year increases in revenue.

Dentists across the U.S. use the ODO platform, and the company’s main challenge is servicing this heavy demand while continuing to improve the automation and design of its platform.

Earlier this year, the company decided to embark on a raise to support that growth. That’s when they turned to Finta.

Seed Round

CEO Judd Johns previously spent more than 13 years at orthodontic industry giant Ormco Orthodontics. As director of product management, he launched several successful products, but he also had a front-row seat to the disconnect between the needs of patients, the capacity of dentists and orthodontists and the current standard of industry support.

Together with his team, he decided to create the platform that became ODO. A born operator, that act of creation has been Johns’ passion. He’s the first to admit that fundraising is not his favorite part of the job.

Johns was introduced to Finta earlier this year through a mutual acquaintance, around the time he was launching a $2 million SAFE round. 

He joined a cohort participating in Finta Academy, an introductory course for running an effective fundraising process. He then became one of the debut customers in Finta’s new Enterprise offering, a white glove service that complements the platform.

Johns said he uses most of the tools Finta makes available to him, including its deal CRM, AI-supported tools in unearthing prospective investors and communicating with them, and following a proven process that has led to investor checks.

Finta has underscored how a consistent, disciplined process will yield results, Johns said.

“Finta builds a framework around raising that’s crisp, understandable and easy to manage,” he said.

What’s Next

ODO has showcased evidence of strong product fit within a massive national market. The current round supports growth and expansion across the business, especially in bolstering the company’s engineering team.

That work will enable more vertical AI integrations into the ODO platform and ultimately provide instant, high-quality feedback to doctors based on clinical perspective.

Ultimately, the goal is to support both dentists and patients, choreographing world-class treatment so that doctors get more business and patients get better care.
